Well, there was no way we could stay in our $5. party idea! I'm laughing because I wasn't thinking food, and goodness, that's the best part of any party!
The girls and I headed to the grocery store yesterday morning after our decorating and tea cup washing. We picked up some eggs, fresh strawberries, cake mix, ingredients for icing, pink and red juice, a little bag of pink yogurt pretzels, and pink, red, and white M&M's. . .
And a small clump of pink roses for $4. I'm a sucker for flowers.

We found some pretty cupcake holders.
We came back and baked away, making messes and licking mixers and bowls as we went. All the no-no's to cooking - but I was baking with pre-schoolers and their faces are so sad if you say, "Don't touch anything, just watch," when they are suppose to be having a fun experience. So we break rules.
They love pouring in all the measurements. They love cutting little bits of strawberries on the cutting board with plastic knives. They love cupcakes. We put the fresh strawberries in the cupcakes. They were so yummy.

Our back drop for our little party was an old blanket that I've had stored away forever. I should have ironed it, but I didn't. I can't even remember where it came from but it was perfect. You know what's sad? I've never pulled it out before because I didn't want to "ruin" it.
Seriously, how long do you wait to live? And does it really matter? Truly? So what if it gets something on it. YOU LIVED! Do you get to the end of your life and say, "Well, there it is. No stains."
I decided no.
After hanging the blanket I took some string and we hung doilies over the string in half for a banner of sorts. The other night while sitting in Shelton's basketball practice, I molded the girl's names with pipe cleaners and Morgan helped me make heart garlands out of the rest.

Then we hung these from the ceiling. . .
I got these last year for a few dollars on sale at a party store ~ seriously, great deal. We took trimmings from the fabric box and hot clued all sorts of pretty to them. They are lovely and look a whole lot more expensive then the few dollars I paid.

I wanted to add some touches so I could talk to the girls about the love between Robert and I. They like stories and I try to put things at their level, yet still make them meaningful and a teaching time. Robert loves candles, so we had to have candles for "daddy's sake." The heart is something that Robert left on my desk about five years ago.
He had been in the work shop that day working on a project. There was a little wood left over so he quickly shaped a heart and put our initials in it. One of the reason this is such a special heart is not because it was so much carefully crafted, but rather that in the middle of all his rush and crazy schedule, I was still on his mind.
I also set out our wedding invitation. When we married someone gave me my wedding invitation framed with dried flowers around it. This was really cool to me because our wedding invitation was very formal. I would have created the whole invitation myself if I'd had that option, second thought, I probably would have sung our whole invitation and did a jig. In otherwords, I am anything but formal. When the wedding invitation came back to me as a gift - all creative like - I was like, "Yes. Thank you."
So I put this out as the center piece.

We turned one corner of the house into a special little tea room.

We picked some sort of something from outside ~ reminder that it was after all very wintery of a day, cold and dry.
Lakelyn dressed up her doggy for the party - all in white. I let the girls pick out what dresses they wanted to wear. Lake insisted on jeans with her dress. Awesome. Love me a little tomboy in the midst.

Brighton chose a white dress that Morgan wore once upon a time when she was small. She was so proud that it finally fit her! Oh, and she picked up the hats too, but Lakelyn wasn't thrilled about that idea.

Morgan was there for half of our party. The morning was spent in school at my mom's. When she returned she put on a hat and joined the joy.

 Here we are making cupcakes!
Baby came, when she wasn't sleeping~

She is our little doll baby.
I remember when Morgan would put Brighton in her stroller.

Yes, Bub showed up for food time!

~ We left our party up all day. Lakelyn napped there.

We left a treat out for the older boys for when they came home. They brought friends home. Middle school boys ate all the left overs! They put their backpacks down and said, "You had the party without us?!"
So we just had a party all over again. . . just entirely different. They ate out on the deck. Brighton was the waitress.

Loading up - off to Scott's basketball game! These are crazy because I spend my time screaming "Go Scott!" and trying to keep all the little ones under control and off the court. I have to come with my bag of tricks to achieve this. :)
