Appearances.

It's not only words that can kill and destroy when relating to our children. It's tone, facial expressions, poignant silence. All effectively communicate a message.

Emotional/spiritual abuse has five characteristics:
-authoritarianism
-image consciousness
-suppression of criticism
-perfectionistic standards
-and imbalance.

Spiritual/emotional abuse needs to be recognized and acknowledged for the evil that it is.

Jesus promoted relationships, healing and love over appearances. He was alone with women at times and accused of gluttony and even being drunk - he was concerned with what was real, not how things looked.

A daughter/son raised to be overly concerned with what people will think will struggle with this all of their life until they are healed. Sadly, this sometimes serves to keep them from following Jesus - because often times Jesus leads us to do things that others may not understand or think is right.

Just some bites of truth for today ~
