| ||Today as I was cleaning up stuff around the house I found a piece of notebook paper with Shelton's name on it. I'd never seen it before. It said (minus the spelling errors ), |
"I like and am thankful for you Dad and Mom. You are the best ever. I am thankful for all the food that you make me Mom and every time Dad goes to work for us. Calmness=Dad. Responsibility=Dad. Gentleness=Mom. Good food=Mom. Love of God=Mom and Dad. Never give up=Dad. Work hard=Mom. Have fun=Mom."
Because like all of us probably feel at times as moms . . . we feel we are failing in so many ways. I have no idea when he wrote it, it's folded up quite a bit. God knew I needed to see this today, this very day.
It was like a note from Him to encourage me to keep going! To keep keeping on! Thank You, God.
I found another paper dated in December that Shelton had in his English notebook:
I believe in God and that He died for my sins.
I will complete a race on Saturday pretty soon.
I will give a delivery to my cousin.
I won't be angry no matter what happens.
I will be done with school early this evening today!
I am tardy for football practice sometimes.
I see a fancy corvette every time we pick up Scott from school.
I think my sister is pretty, prettier than anyone.
I am glad America has liberty.
I think that the peanut butter jar is empty.
I am too busy with school to talk to anyone.
I will complete all these sentences right now!
I love how writing can show me their heart when otherwise they might not discuss what they think.
So much on my heart today but no time to write and I'm not sure I could "pen" it here accurately anyway - plus, so much work around here today! Seems more than usual. But I think it's just because some weekends it just builds up. . . and yesterday I took out with all eight and we went to our property all day long. We hiked and played really, really hard. It was one of those days I want to stay in my heart forever.
I am going to put some of my furniture today on Craigslist to sell.
I am in the mood to simplify once again.
Ah, yes, I almost forgot - then there is the coloring paper I found of Brighton's - it's a picture of palm trees (orange ones) yellow sand and a blue stick figure with very long hair. Then there is a pink line with a head. It is a worm. She wanted written above the picture, "She found a big, huge worm. She ate the meat in it."
She smiled at the sentences. She smiled big.
