Childrens' Rooms. (the boys' room, otherwise known as the "Clubhouse.")

 We've had temps below freezing this week and stuck inside for most of it -- besides getting lots of school work done, we also took on the boys' bedroom, otherwise known as the "Clubhouse." Here's what we've done thus far out of junk furniture, odd things, old things (pillows made out of old blankets and saved fabrics) used things, restored things, and a few new things...

"Silly Movie 2010" produced by the children and me.

(Go to the bottom of the page and turn off the music before playing video.)

for other decorating projects go to my side bar titled "tags" and look under "decorationsonabudget."

this is great, Lys~! loved the real live walk through, and your narration throughout... found myself smiling at baby lots as she's eating your necklace, hair, and bouncing about~ wow. she looks so much like Christian to me! your ideas are off the charts with creativity and originality~ roll away cart for toy box? so cool! two things really leaped out at me though as i watched - a.contentment~ using the stuff you have, or second hand stuff. b.that stuff is just that - stuff, and don't take it too seriously. :)

love you girl~

Hi Alyssa~  First, I've got to tell you how much I enjoy your blog.  You take the most amazing pictures, and are so inspiring!  The "clubhouse" is fabulous!  (And your children are lovely...)

I've got a sort of funny question, but I hope you don't mind.  I was hoping you could tell me where you found the cardi you're wearing in this video?  I love the different outfits you make with it, and have been looking for a similar one for quite a while now!  Any help you could give me would be wonderful. :)

Again, thank you!  The Lord bless you with a great week.

fun fun! Love your creative ideas! my mom used to always be quoting this quote to us kids growing up...take what you have do what you can, and leave the results to God!
Great job on the video! Wherever did you get the time to do all that?

@redladybug18 -

it didn't take much time - we pieced it together throughout an entire day here and there - just a little bit at a time. Then one night while the children were sleeping Robert helped me edit it real quick and burn it to quicktime movie maker thing. Was fun to do and when it's cold it is always nice to have something we can all work on together since playing outdoors isn't an option. . . :)

Great job piecing it all together in a video! Of course we in this family thinks it's the most awesome boy's room EVER. My boys hope for a loft bedroom in their dreams. but for now are content to hang out at their cousin's clubhouse!

The video was fun.  I appreciate the sharing as I have 4 sons ages 4-10.  Some very good ideas.  My 8 year old son watched it over my shoulder and said he wishes they had a couch that they could just jump on and do what they want with.  Hmm...I may have to look into that.  :)

Thank you.

Your decorating sense is so inspirational! I've always been a thrift store shopper/side of the road gatherer of stuff thanks to the resourcefulness of my parents. Seeing how you make stuff come together has definitely opened my eyes and mind to being more creative with the stuff I find or already have. I have a 7-month old and am excited to teach her in the future about making do and looking for opportunities to be unique and thrifty.

That was such a cute video. And what an AMAZING AMAZING room! I love lofts in general but the creativity you have put into it is cool. My brothers room is also a mess A LOT even if we go in there and completely clean it, 5 mins later it is awful. haha but they love helping and cleaning so that is a blessing. Thanks for posting this!

What a fantastic boy room! It's cracking me up, because I just posted on my little guy's room last night and so much of what I wrote was reflected in the words you wrote. Where on earth did you find those amazing rolling canvas bins? Love them!
